From Kate: hang in there!

Hi Cleansers!
You are all doing so well!! Your bodies are purifying and you're all
doing an excellent job listening to what your bodies are telling you.
I totally understand the "mind games"... I could swear the Ginger
cookies in my cupboard were just taunting me as I reached for my rice.
BUT, this presents an excellent time for reflection. If we're eating
our three meals at the proper times are we really 'hungry' for more?
Is your stomach growling? How attached are we to the cup of tea/coffee
that we normally might think is no big deal? And also, how are we
feeding ourselves? Do we use food to feed our senses when our bodies
don't need more?
I've found it interesting to watch how when my energy is low,
especially at the end of a long day, my mind says "gosh, a cookie or
three would really take the edge off" but really it's my body saying
"taking a nice bath, sesame oil on my feet & crawling into bed would
set me right." How can we practice listening to what's really good for
us rather than that so-often-demanding mind? I can tell when I take a
bite if kitchari or stewed fruit, my tastebuds & my body say "aaaaaa".
It's like they're being pampered. Remember this diet isn't forever,
but a couple of days, and really allows your body to regain digestive
stength and purify. You'll see the rewards from these days well into
the next week, and onward if we can integrate these more mindful
eating practices.

Peace, Kate

  1. Hi Kate, thanks for the cleanse and your input.
I have been following the cleanse and baths, rituals with Jules, and I think we are doing well. I suffer from headaches chronically, usually when the weather changes, but I think my new headaches may be part of the cleanse, not in a bad way, just toxic, I think, might not have been drinking enough of the warm water? We had experience right before we took the cleanse of having colds, and I had some sort of sinus infection and maybe flu symptoms, and took some nose sprays and day and niquill type stuff, that I think might be coming out?
What are your thoughts here. I feel good, otherwise, not really all that hungry, just craving other types of foods, but enjoyed the change and we normally take a good amount of baths, love the purposefully utilitarian use of baths as a relaxer and detoxification tool. Let me know what you think, raadler@aol.com
    Peace, and thanks again ;D

  2. Hi Darrell!
    Few questions first:
Where do you feel your headaches? Temples? Behind the eyes? All over? Dull or sharp?
Do they grow worse when you move and lessen when you rest? Do they grow especially worse when you see bright light?
Is it worse in the morning & evening or generally steady through the day?
My initial suggestion is to sip a mixture of:
1 T sugar, 1/4 salt, juice of half a lime & a pint of water. If that doesn't change anything then I don't think it's related to dehydration, and I'll recommend something else.
It's so great to hear you're engaging in and enjoying the cleanse! The headaches are not abnormal. This cleanse doesn't just remove the recently injected toxins (like the nyquill) but also the deep seated toxins that we accumulate over our years. This can make for a range of different reactions from the body as it cleans house. As things arise, we do want to adjust so that the body can clean and the mind can be peaceful.
So, on that note, keep me updated!
    best,
    Kate

  3. Hi Kate!

Thanks for the suggestion... D doesn't have as bad a headache today, cuz he drank a lot more water. I kinda do, tho, so I tried your remedy, but I subbed agave for sugar and a meyer lemon for lime. Is that ok?

It's been very interesting to see how our bodies react - and our minds... how they have associated places, times and habits with a certain food(s).

I know we've barely touched the surface here with this quick cleanse, but it makes me want to learn and do more!

    Paz! Jules
